The Lesnaya Ski Base, located on the edge of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is a sports complex that serves local residents and visitors year round.  While its main focus is on maintaining the many miles of groomed cross country ski trails, the organization also has a tour department.  They make their facilities available in summer for hikers, mountain bikers and work with local outfitters to provide horseback riding trips.  To diversify their support and to provide help for users, they operate a ski shop selling equipment, and one can also rent skis for the day too.  In summer they rent mountain bikes.

Principle: Contributes to the local economy.

We contribute to the local economy by paying taxes to the local budget from the income received from hiring skies and using skiing runs, as well as through sales of ski equipment at our small shop located at the base.

Principle:  Quality and safety throughout the whole tour.

Before starting the route we give tourist the guidelines about rules of behavior in the wilderness.   This includes both personal safety and also guidelines for how to behave on the trip and not harm the places we visit.  We always carry with us a satellite telephone in case we need emergency contact.

Principle:  Stimulates joy, knowledge, and respect for local cultures.
We give tourists “Kamchatka Explorer” magazine and guidelines about rules of behavior in the wilderness. Our guides are knowledgeable about the local cultures, history, and natural history of the places they visit.
